HI I am 40 and have PKU. I have a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful kids. I knew I couldn’t have kids because my levels were always too high. So my husband and I chose to not take the risk of trying for our own child. When I wanted to start a family I knew that with levels of 1-6 it could be possible to have a normal child. But for my husband and I it was just too great a risk! We thought with the knowledge we had about how the baby could possibly be we felt that it was our priveledge to give a deserving child a home. We adopted ur son at 16 months and our daughter at 5 months. They are so lovely. I know that adoption is scary but I was adopted and it was a very beautiful experience. Would love to chat about these subjects. [/FONT]
