I was diagnosed with PKU when I was 7 days old and have stayed on diet since then. My parents were really strict with my diet when i was young, so it helped me when i moved out on my own.
PKU is what you make of it. Dealing with it all of my life isn’t a problem, it’s just a lifestyle and if i didn’t have it i wouldnt be me. When I was in grade school, my mom turned it into a learning opportunity for all the children. she would come into school and teach them all about pku. I was confident enough (or too naive to know i was different) to the point where nobody ever bothered me.
There are several websites that tell you about pku…i saw you guys having some difficulty above. just type it into google and search. the best information i have received about PKU came from clinics.
