Hey, we are going to be moving to AL soon. At UNC we go by exchanges, but and the clinic we are going to be going to (UAB) they go by mg of PHE. Is there a difference in how precise the two ways of measuring are? Is one better than the other?
Fifteen milligrams of phe is equal to one exchange. For example someone who is allowed 300 milligrams of phe could also say they are allowed 20 exchanges, because it means the same thing. Counting milligrams of phe is more exact, because exchanges are rounded off. For example something that says it has no exchanges might actually have around one to five milligrams of phe, which could make a huge difference for someone who has a very low phe tolerance.
