Just wondering if anyone can advise if they have had it missed with the Guthrie test due to timing of the test etc and then picked it up later on? What were the symptons?

is this for you or your child? if it is for your child and he is a toddler,if you are concerned, take him/her to your peditrician and have test redone.

For my child. How simple is the test? Just a blood test?

It maybe possible for PKU to be missed with the test, but if your worried I’d say get it redone. It’s better to be safe then sorry. When I was born my mom had my brother (he’s a year older then me) retested because he was slightly developementally slow just to be safe, but he didn’t have it. Also after I was born my mom had all of my younger sisters tested twice just to be safe, and my aunt had her first son tested twice aswell.
