There are a lot of people on here that have PKU that understand what that lifestyle means. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask any of us. Some of us have always been on diet, but a lot of people on here have also been off the diet and have had to go back on and figure things out very much like what you are doing. There is a big community of PKU adults with a variety of backgrounds on facebook, if you’d like to get connected with that group, please let me know.

Its only a problem if you treat it like one. Personally, I am not bothered by my pku at all. In fact until I started posting on this website, I barely thought about it more than one day a week, and I will probably forget about it in a few weeks if I stop visiting here. I drink the formula, and don’t even make the association anymore it’s just what I do. Anyway, if you are on the diet and everything and are having problems like depression and all that, then it probably doesn’t have to do with your pku. I would suggest getting into the health and wellness trend. When you are doing things that give you a sense of wellbeing, and wellness, like working out, and eating healthy, maybe some things for your spiritual health, or engaging your mind by sitting down with some white tea and reading a book, just taking it easy in a healthy way even, it is hard to feel depressed and such.

i know being on the diet is hard, like yourself i am a pku and have been since birth in 1960,s when the word diet was,nt around.my sister lorraine is a pku as well.we use to be on albumaid that came in a golden tin that came through the post we did have bread but by time it got to us the bread was off.if their was anything we were,nt allowed we did with out.it ws very hard for us but mum made up for us by giving us fruite and veg.we had also two bottles of medcine and two small bottles of tablets before goning to school. at 13 we came off dietuntil we were 18 years old and moved to dublin. its taken years to under stand this diet and pku,i have been off diet nd felt ruff and tied and i have had good daysand when the results are good i felt there was nothing i can,t do. when i look at my daughter and son i think its worth it being on diet i am grateful cause i done it without surport of my mother it was a queston of i can do this myself.don,t give up be strong the rewards are good.i hope from this you won,t be alone anymoe you can keep contact with me if you wish.it,s hard doing this diet on your own. so take care don,t get down the only way is up.
