August 27, 2010 in Uncategorized

Please contact your congressional representatives and tell them to vote in favor of Bill H.R. 4926 aka The Medical Foods Equity Act 0f 2010. It is a bill that has been referred to commitee this spring and to get the bill reported and to get a congressional vote we need to let our voices be heard. The bill proposes that medical foods like low-protein foods for PKU should be covered by medicare, medicaid, and private insurance to help individuals and families with the expensive costs of medically necessary food and food modified to be low protein; and pharmacological doses of vitamins and amino acids used for the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism such as PKU. The bill was introduced by Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin. Please contact your local representatives and inform them to support this bill.
