MPKU – Waiting…

A week doesn't seem to go fast enough when you're beginning the maternal diet again. I know it's been longer than that since I last posted, but I'm waiting, waiting... What for? My level! I did one last Saturday morning when I was in Melbourne and got 662, which is probably about right, since I'd only been doing the 6g and 4 Lophlex for about 4 days by then and before that I'd been overseas trying to eat well but also having my 'last' naughty this and my 'last' naughty that foods, lol. So I've done another one on Sunday afternoon and I can't wait to see how much the level would have dropped by in 1 week. I know it's only Tuesday but eek! I normally get the results by Wednesday-Friday if I send it in on Monday. I've been having roughly 6g/day until then but not counting strictly, just saying 'yeah that's 1 gram, that's 3 etc.. so I have about 1 left etc', but after doing my level on Sunday I've been counting properly now, because I reckon my level will have dropped a bit but certainly not to where it needs to be. I reckon it'll be about 350 or so. We'll have to wait and see! Waiting... waiting...

I hate waiting on results. They always seem to take too long!

I wish we had a home monitoring system that gave quick phe results–like diabetics have. I’ve wanted one for about 10 years! wouldn’t it be nice to know without having to send off a blood sample and waiting a week?!

Good luck with the MPKU diet!

I heard the PKU monitoring device may only be a year or so away…
