Today is my first blood test since beginning my new diet. I am on a 50g protein diet with 40g of Phenylade Essential and 12.8g of Phenylade MTE. Breakfast Routine! In the mornings I am sticking to the exact same breakfast: 2 Hash Brown patties, 1 banana, 2 slices of bacon (yes, I know, but I am easing into the diet) and the Phenylade mix (usually with an ice coffee/sugar blend). It is working for me. The rest of the day is a major challenge! Progress? Thus far I do not feel any difference, but it has only been a few days. I have not been on this diet even a week yet. By the way- bacon is the only meat/dairy I have all day. It is tempting to see ribs, steak or the Mexican food our dear friend made for our ministry yesterday, but I am COMMITTED. Food will not be my downfall in this challenge. Those brought up on the PKU diet have learned to overcome and defeat obstacles. I see PKU as an enemy to be defeated and "Nothing worth doing is easy."
