my kids want meat

July 21, 2009 in Uncategorized

Some days I get very down about my kids having PKU. even tho they do not have the Classic form and can eat almost 10-12 grams of protien a day I wish there was a cure. I know, i know, it could be worse, it could always be worse, but i'm living in the now. dont want to think about things getting worse.

My daughter tells me everyday how hard it is to not be able to eat meat. She craves it so bad. We thought she did not have classic PKU untill now. Now I have to tell her some of the things she could eat before, she can’t now. I know how hard it is for you and I’m sorry!

i was reading your blog.i too have a 7 year old boy with classic pku. i feel your frustration. i am so tired of hearing it could be so much worse, you should be thankful its just a diet.i am thankful but, as he gets older it is so hard for him.birthday parties, barbeques at friends, swim parties the list goes on and on,telling them no when all his other friends are eating hotdogs, pizza, cheeseburgers.it breaks my heart.i just wish they could find a cure or something to help these children out.i dont want him to feel sorry for himself.so i stay positive with him.but sometimes i just want to scream.thanks for listening
