PKU Novel — Need YOUR Help!

June 18, 2010 in Uncategorized

Greetings to all! My name is Kenneth and I'm a 21 year old living in Wyoming. After a recent Summit meeting for PKU, I've gotten some great ideas for a novel. This novel will be about a person growing up with PKU and the challenges he/she may go through. I'm in need of your help! I want YOUR stories -- Are you a mother? Tell me how you felt when you received news that your baby had a genetic disease. Are you a father? Tell me what you did after the initial shock. Parents? -- What challenges did you find (or are you finding) raising your PKU child. Patient? -- What has been your greatest challenge, your most memorable moments, and your greatest accomplishment pertaining to PKU been? Or tell me anything else related... Have you met anyone with PKU or another disease that left a great impression on you? I need your stories to help make this novel a reality! I will keep you updated on the progress of the book once I get the stories I need... be apart of the story, help make a character come to life!!!

I am curious, is this a kind of existentialist type novel, or is there some kind of direction or final conclusion or closure to the story?

There will most likely be some kind of closure or end to the story. Clearly, though, I can’t predict where the characters might go — they grow as I write and personalities of the characters will change as the book becomes reality. This will be, hopefully, a novel based on bits and pieces of stories I can get from others willing to share. Does this answer your question?
