“What comes first, the compass or the clock? Before one can truly manage time (the clock), it is important to know where you are going, what your priorities and goals are, in which direction you are headed (the compass). Where you are headed is more important than how fast you are going. Rather than always focusing on what's urgent, learn to focus on what is really important.” –author unknownI’m back with a vengeance…lol, so ok, maybe not with a vengeance, but you all get the point. With fresh cup of coffee in hand I have returned to work. Welcome to 2012, I wish I could say this year is gonna be different or spectacular, but I digress I can’t; only time will tell. The first order of business; again, is to welcome all of you to the year 2012. I wish I could say my year started off with a BANG but it was more like BOOM….then fizzle. As I wrote about a week or so ago my father-in-law’s illnesses took a turn for the worst and he passed New Year’s Day which also happened to be his birthday. My family and I are all taking our own path to grieving, which as you know, is often how it works, everyone grieves in their own time, space, and way. However, we comfort in the fact he is with his Father in Heaven enjoying a pain-free life for the rest of eternity. This week was supposed to be my returning to focus week, but life…guess what?? It happens, imagine that. I caught the cold/flu bug going around and was laid up for about 3-4 days and as any PKUer will tell you being sick SUCKS. It wreaks havoc with your levels so not only do you fight the bug you have, but the phe-monster as well. I think the only thing that made me feel better is my since of taste went out the window and I wasn’t hungry, but you can see I’m back online and behind the scenes. Yay!!! Sorta, I guess, depends on who you ask.I’ve already been on the phone and video chatting, kinda, with Chris about the 2nd Annual PKU Family Fun Weekend up in his neck of the woods, Massachusetts here in the USA. He has done quite a bit of work already securing locations and lodging…Way to go. This year’s event will be a 3 day extravaganza, lol, ok that may be a lil’ much. Friday –PKU Meet & Greet, Saturday – AM 5k Walk/Run & PM Bowling/Vendor night Sunday –Family day at the Zoo/picnic. It promises to be bigger and better this year, you can find details on FB, just find me. Next, I booked a LONNNGGGGG overdue PKU Clinic appointment so I supposed I should prepare for a lecture or two (time to reap what I have sown for myself with my foolish behavior). That will happen next week. I’m sure my level is through the roof and around the corner since I got myself off diet, but I have no one to blame but myself, my family and friends have done nothing but encourage me. So with my new PC in hand I plan on checking out some diet management programs and software to help me track myself. Any suggestions??? So, I know this entry is not overrun with a wealth of useful insights, but next week I will try harder. I would like any info on diet managing software/programs out there you all have used. I would also welcome blog ideas.
