reactions while on diet

June 1, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hi everyone sorry I haven't been online for awhile. Since starting diet I have been feeling a little strange. Almost like I am light headed and a little dizzy throughout the day. Has anyone else experienced that after being off the diet for awhile. I've been doing great as far as getting the right amount of tablets in. Did everybody enjoy their holiday weekend? Does anyone shop at dierbergs? Today I found out that dierbergs carries some Ener-G products that are for low protein. I talked to the person in charge of whole foods and he told me to pick out which products I would like for them to carry and to get the upc numbers for them and they would order them for me and I would buy the products from dierbergs rather than ordering online and possibly cheaper. You might want to try a dierbergs around where you live to see if they can help you. I called Ener-g Foods and they are sending me a pamphlet of the products that are low protein and will mark the upc codes down for me on pamphlet and give me the whole sale price. So its worth a try if anybody is interested.

Thank you for the information. It really is a weird feeling. I live in wentzville, missouri. Where do you live? It is really nice to talk to someone who has experienced the same symptoms. For so long I felt all alone dealing with this pku for years. I just wish I could put a name with the face in person, but its still nice to conversat with another person that is dealing with the same things. How old are you? have you worked things out with the insurance company? I will be praying for you and the struggle with insurance companies. We all could use words of encouragment. Thank you again I really needed to hear that this morning. Look forward to hearing from you.

I have a friend who works at a whole foods market (in the Phoenix area) and she said that they are very customer-friendly. When I was buying the low pro coconut milk yogurt in large quantities, the cashier voluntarily offered info to me about buying in bulk and getting a discount for purchasing an entire case at a time. I’m not familiar with Dierbergs, either.

Sometimes I feel light-headed but it never lasts long or gets in the way of my everyday functioning. I wonder if it’s related to whatever is causing yours? I try to make sure to drink plenty of water, as sometimes I attribute it to low Blood Pressure from low blood volume (being slightly dehydrated). Who knows?!

What part of Missouri is Wentzville? I have only been to Missouri once and don’t know the state really well, but have family in St. Louis area and my husband’s family is from Leavenworth, KS so if we fly in to visit them, we fly into KC on the Missouri side.

I live west of St. Louis about an hour out of St. louis. The county I live in is St. Charles County. Where does your family live in St. Louis? Today I had a lot of dizzy and lightheadedness. After I took Tylenol It seemed to get better as the day went on. I do drink a lot of water as I am taking my phelexy-10 tablets. So i am getting plenty of water intake. How did your day go? Today was my kids last day of school. Now they are on summer break. Sleep well. Keep in touch.

I would love to talk to someone who has this disorder so I can help and understand my grandsons eating and not wanting to drink his formula so his level gets high and his behavior is unbearable thats how I know without testing his blood that his level is high. I cry every time I send him home because I know he is upset and angry and mean and they meaning his parent aren’t thinking about his level making him so mean an throwing tantrums etc. I myself got on the fone to UK so I could find out everything I could from his dietician so I can help and find out she isn’t sending his blood in as often as needed so I offered to help.

    Sincerely,
    Driving myself crazy over PKU.

Yes Kristi. When all is said and done with this, I plan on advocating. The sad thing is that my insurance company should pay for it. It has ALWAYS. In NYS it is mandatory, however when I switched to Camino Pro they refused to acknowledge it as formula, but continues to classify it as medical food limiting me at $2500 per year. Yes, I have seen the information on npkua.org. I am in the process right now communicating between the NYS Attorney General and the NYS Insurance Department.

Also… the NYS Attorney General said once this is straightened out, to provide NYS residents with her number so this can be taken of… the problem overall though, is every single state should be covered fully for formula.
