Time to get serious

January 12, 2010 in Uncategorized

First, An introduction. My name is Victor Kobie, I am 40 years old and was off diet for 13-15 years while in High School,College and the Air Force. I have been on and off diet since 98.... It's time to get serious....I'm tired of feeling tired all of the time. I need to get control of this diet thing. I take Phenylade 60. Tried Kuvan, had complications, so I'm at 10-12 grams of protein an day. Just yesterday, I got serious with this. Took all my formula for the first time in probably 4 months and Took in 8-10 grams of protein. I found this site and will try to keep a blog to keep up the momentum.

Hey Victor, nice to meet you. Kuvan didn’t work out for me either. The diet thing can be hard, but it’s nice to have an online community for support. Hope to hear more from you!

    Hey Vitcor,
Good for you I know how you feel I have been off diet for about four years. i felt the same way tired I have been back on diet for about two months now and I cant believe how much better I feel! Once you get back on track it gets much easier :) but it nice to have this web site because only people who have PKU can really understand how hard it can be at times! Well good luck stay on track and keep us posted!

    Hi Victor,

I know exactly where you’re coming from. I’m 52 and have been off the diet for 20 years. I was diagnosed when I was in kindergarten, was on the diet until I was 10 and went on when I was in my early 30s. I want to go back, but I have no money and no insurance. Maybe some day.
    Good luck with the diet.

Hello victor! First of all good for you! I know that being back on diet will give you the energy and focus you missed whether you realized it or not in these past few years. I say that because during the diet I was all over the place more off diet than on but functioned fine… or so I thought. Once I started getting very tired and had zero energy I thought I would give the diet another shot. Coming back to diet full force made me ‘break through a fog’ which is the ony way I can explain it. It wasn’t until I was back on diet that I realized what I had been missing. I look forward to hearing how you are doing! Please feel free to keep in touch if it gets tough or if you have a great day! I can understand that sense of accomlishment at the end of the day because it is tough but also SO worth it!!!!
