So I decided Sunday to go back on my diet it just seemed time to start thinking ahead and taking better care of my self. The one thing I was worried about was going out to eat with my boyfriend….he loves to eat good food BBQ, steaks, you name it he loves it. Today we went to a BBQ place with one of our friends they said “we had to try this place its great.” Our friend knows I have PKU but was unaware I was back on my diet…but it was cool he offered me some food I couldn’t have told no I am back on my diet. Both he and my boyfriend said “good for you!” When I ordered I didn’t even think about getting food I couldn’t have. It was great I feel awesome that I was able to stick to my diet even though we went out. I just had to share that I know it might not seem much too some people but it’s a great success for us when we can stick to our diet!

    Yay!!! That’s so great! How are your levels when you aren’t on diet & how much protein can you eat each day? It’s really not too bad when you’re prepared…I have recently been doing lots of low pro cooking & baking for the first time in my life. I can honestly say it’s not too bad as long as I have foods around that I like & can eat. Another thing that helped is that I also started telling my boyfriend that I’m making dinner at least one night a week (we used to go out to eat or order a lot). He LOVES that I cook now & I’ve been experimenting with ways to make really simple dinners that aren’t too hard to modify.

    Yayy! Great to hear that…. Try to remember how good of a feeling you had when you did accomplish this. Yes, you will have disappointments when you don’t eat the right foods.. Don’t be hard on yourself though! Remember the GOOD feeling and try to keep at that! Also, after some time of being on track with diet, take your blood levels. From experience, I LOVE getting my blood levels after working really hard to get my levels down and then hear how low they are. It is so self-rewarding. Keep up the good work, and don’t be hard on yourself when you don’t eat the way you really should. :)

    Great job! It is so wonderful to hear you have decided to go back on diet, and it is even better to hear that you were able to stick to the diet even when you were out. It sounds like you definitely have the determination to get back on diet and to stay on diet. Keep us updated on how everything goes, and as Katie said don’t be hard on yourself if you slip up. Everyone makes mistakes. That’s part of what makes us human :).
